When developing my denim range of ceramics I collected a range of vintage crockery for inspiration. I was interested in the repetition of floral decorations on these pieces. Though my initial designs changed at lot, I enjoyed drawing / designing my own images with pen and watercolour. These images have been transferred to denim fabric and embellished with a combination of hand and machine embroidery.
I have also begun to introduce some children's illustrations to this range which can be personalised with a name and / or date.
Recently I have taken a break from ceramics and have enjoyed working on my painting. Mostly working in oils along with some mixed media techniques, I have especially enjoyed painting Alpine mountainscapes and landscapes scenes from around the Lake District. The colours, textures, shapes in these pieces have inspired a new range of ceramics, which I am currently developing. Watch this space for new work coming soon!
